Our Story
Phoenix de Uco Vineyard and Blū Phoenix Wines are the realized dream of Laura Woodward. This woman-owned, boutique vineyard is dedicated to not only creating wine of uncompromising quality but also creating a community that can make the world a better place by giving back.
While traveling to Argentina in 2020 right before the world shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak, Laura came across this section in Uco Valley and couldn’t get it out of her mind. She has travelled extensively throughout the world and visited numerous vineyards and wineries. But something about this area spoke to her - so much so that she bought her vineyard.
Phoenix de Uco Vineyards are located in G.I. Los Chacayes-Valle de Uco. Los Chacayes is one of the most prestigious sub-areas in terms of grape quality, giving rise to the best and most awarded wines in Argentina. We are not interested in appealing to the masses but rather creating an experience that is meant to be savored and enjoyed. All grapes are hand-harvested and begin the winemaking process within hours after collection. Each harvest, we carefully follow the progression of our grapes through the winemaking process to bring out the most unique, bold, and palate pleasing experiences of our wines. This may mean longer time in barrels or using a different type of fermentation vessel.
Just like the traditional phoenix rising from its ashes, the blue phoenix symbolizes our ability to rise above our past and previous experiences, transforming ourselves into something greater. Please join us in experiencing wines that set the stage for something greater.
Accolades
High praise for our 2021 Malbec from Jose Luis Belluscio, a renowned wine journalist. Score 92.
Cherry red with ruby reflections of medium/high intensity. Brilliant. Fine balsamic notes with ripe fruits and fresh flowers. Sweet entry with very good acidity. Tannins are almost rounded, medium, and fine. The floral notes extend in the mouth to join the fine eucalyptus with a touch of aromatic herbs, making it even fresher. Complex and refined. Medium volume with long persistence. Good finish. It is a light wine but with a complexity of flavors.
High praise for our 2022 Malbec from Jose Luis Belluscio, a renowned wine journalist. Score 92.5
In sight, it presents a good nuance and a nice tone, very characteristic of Malbec. On the nose it is very complex, with notes of coconut, vanilla, fruit, orange blossom and citrus. In the mouth it has a sweet entrance, it is very balanced and has very good flow.
